Grooved rims must’ve been a hot topic in the Innova laboratories around 2008 because that’s when both the Innova Groove and its lesser known cousin, the Monarch were released. Unlike the surprisingly beefy Groove, the Monarch was more true to its understable flight ratings. It was generally offered in Champion plastic, but was also briefly seen in limited Star runs. Innova has not released a grooved-rim disc since, which may speak to the disc flying public’s unease with that rim modification. #aheadofitstime.
