Disc Golf Experience

My introduction to the sport of Disc Golf was while I was attending East Carolina University, pursuing a degree in Communication Arts. In 1997, My roommate invited me to join him and his friends for a round at the course on campus. I have been hooked on the sport ever since that first tree.

With a fully developed obsession with throwing a disc and battling every course I could find, I made my first trip to the United States Disc Golf Championship in Rock Hill, SC. After taking in everything the most amazing experience in disc golf has to offer, I overheard the TD, Jonathan Poole, asking if anyone had experience updating websites. I didn’t hesitate to become a part of the most amazing volunteer staff in the sport, and I took the role very seriously.

I guess I did an acceptable job since I was invited back year after year. Along with some very creative and talented people, Mike Norris, Chris ‘Stick’ McLeod, and I developed ways for the fans at home to follow the excitement. If you are a seasoned golfer, you may remember following the action by watching “The Dots”. We found a way to create a fraction of the excitement for fans at home that the attendees were experiencing. We also wanted to give them a reason to show up in person next year.
