Innova Aviar
Aviar Putt & Approach Disc
The Innova Aviar is the gold standard for putt and approach discs across the globe and one of the most popular putters in disc golf. More World Championships have been won with this putter than all other putters combined. That’s simply a fact.
As a result of its success, the Aviar, also known as Aviar Putt & Approach, has the widest selection of models and plastics. Aviar variations include the KC Pro Aviar, JK Pro Aviar, Yeti Aviar, Aviar3 and AviarX3. The Aviar is known for its neutral stability which allows this putt and approach disc to hold its line on various angles and speeds.
There’s a reason the Innova DX Aviar Putt and Approach disc is sold in thousands of starter sets every year … because it works. Many players never stop using it.
The aviar in your hand
The Aviar is a beadless mold with a smooth rounded rim and a flat top for improved grip. The rim has a comfortable depth of shallowness no matter how you configure your fingers on the rim. If you enjoy a beaded putter then look to other molds including the JK Pro Aviar and KC Pro Aviar. The Aviar is known for producing a clean, consistent release. No matter your preference of feel, there’s an Aviar for you.
Aviar Profile & Stats
Aviar Flight numbers
Speed
No one likes long comeback putts. This disc has ideal putter speed to help minimize fly-bys. The speed of 2 also allows for comfortable approach shots and short drives off the tee.
Glide
The Aviar loves to glide. Spin putters will thoroughly enjoy putting this disc on a line and watch it hold until it reaches the chains. Push putters can trust that the disc will hold straight at slow speeds with a touch of finish.
Turn
This baby wants to hold its line. Release it on your desired angle and know that the Aviar will hold true. Very neutral stability at low speeds.
Fade
The end of flight fade allows for a consistent finish when putting at circle two distance and beyond. Aim this putter outside the chains from downtown and know that it will consistently fade back towards the heart of the basket. The Aviar's fade also allows for a trustworthy thrower inside of 250 feet.
Aviar Flight Path
Distances 250 feet and in are easily reachable. What's more, it's a great teaching disc for beginners to dial-in their technique and produce accurate approaches.
When the Aviar is thrown at slow speed for putting, it holds the line you put it on with neutral stability and a predictable finish. When utilized as a throwing putter, the Aviar is an incredibly straight flyer and has surprising torque resistance.
Throwing In The Wind
Anybody out there like putting in the wind?? Me neither. The Aviar holds true to its flight path in mild to moderate wind conditions but will still lift in a headwind and drop in a tailwind. Spin putts can help minimize the effects as it can "cut through" the elements, but heavy winds will still be trouble. Look to the overstable AviarX3 mold in windy conditions to give you a stable flight.
power levels compared
Low Power / Newer Player
Beginner disc golfers will enjoy the Aviar as it will give you consistent results with both push and spin putts. For approach shots and longer throws, the Aviar will have reliable glide with fade at the end of flight for players with slower arm speed. Included in thousands of Innova Starter Packs every year! Recommended. Great starter for putt and approach.
Medium Power / Intermediate Player
At this point, players will begin to unlock the Aviar's consistent flight path and start to see putts fall from circle two. You will be able to play with the release angle for approach shots and enjoy a multitude of flights. Recommended. Full send!
Full Power / Advanced Player
This will be your go-to putt and approach disc. Everything from push to spin putts to jump putts and distance throw-ins. There is a reason this disc golf putter has been in the bag of more World Champions than every other putter combined. It works! Recommended. Green Light!

recommended Uses For An Aviar
Push Putt
The Aviar is ideal for the push putt as it flies straight at slower speeds. Push putts have lower spin and have a tendency to hyzer out quicker. The Aviar allows for a straighter flight path and for the chains to get in the way more often.
Spin Putt
This is where the Aviar thrives. A spin putter will love the straight flight path regardless of the angle of release. The consistent finish allows for spin putts from deep in circle two. A clean grip allows for a crisp, spinny release every time.
Anhyzer Putt
If you are an anhyzer putter or simply need this shot in your toolbelt, the Aviar will give you consistent results. The end of flight fade allows for a putt that will consistently fight back to flat on an anhyzer release.
Jump Putt
Outside the circle? Look no further than the Aviar. Here we have a disc that gives you consistency at long range. Heaven forbid you airball your putt, the Aviar will give you a shorter comebacker due to the end of flight fade.
Distance Putt
Trust the Aviar from deep to give you dependable results. Give it some speed and the glide of the Aviar will do the work for you. This shot is why so many World Champions bag the Aviar.
Backhand Approach <250 Feet
Try various plastics for your approach shots. The Aviar is surprisingly torque resistant and premium plastics will give you more stability. Also try various molds of the Aviar for different in-hand feel. Reach for the AviarX3 for more overstability or the Yeti Aviar for the straightest flight.
